Size chart sleeping bags

Sleeping bags have different sizes than regular baby clothes or children's clothing. For the correct size, keep the length of your child. The size of the sleeping bag is equal to the number of cm (height) child. If your child is between 60 - 70 cm long then you take a sleeping bag with a size of 70 cm.

The sleeping bag size is the length from shoulder to toe. Your child therefore has enough space to move and you do not need an extra cm. to be charged.

Tip! The sleeping bag with legs is quite large. It is best to look at the length in cm (from shoulders to the toes, see picture below) and then take the right size.

Example. Measure your child from the shoulders to the toes eg 75 cm take size 6> 24 months and not one size bigger. Even though your child is almost 2 years old. The sleeping bags with legs are quite large because they also have to fit well as an ordinary sleeping bag and it is also not comfortable when a sleeping bag is tight.

Heat and TOG values ​​of sleeping bags generally

Below you will find a guideline for the use of the correct TOG values. However, this is an advice. The right choice also depends on the ambient temperature and the body heat for your baby.

Roughly you can keep the following. A sleeping bag of 3.5 TOG is very warm (say eskimo material) a sleeping bag of 0.2 TOG is very thin (suitable for warm nights in the summer). You can of course also vary with the layers of clothing. Only a romper or when it is colder a pajamas. So you have enough of 2 sleeping things with 2 different TOG values. Take a look at your feeling and check whether your baby is too hot or too cold and adjust the layers + any sleeping bag.

Specifically: a sleeping bag with a TOG of 2.3 / 2.5 is ideal for a bedroom with a temperature between 16 and 20 °. Is your room warmer then you go to a sleeping bag with a lower TOG value (1). If your room is fresher, go to a sleeping bag with a higher TOG value.

Handy facts about the Togwaarde:
  • The TOG (Thermal Overall Grade) that the VBKV will use in the Netherlands runs from 0 to 4
  • The higher the TOG value, the warmer the product.
  • The TOG value therefore does not apply outdoors at room temperature.
  • The overheating of babies can be risky. Always choose the correct Tog value.

Your child must be nice and warm. But too hot is not good either. Choose a combination of clothing and bed linen with a maximum TOG value that matches the room temperature.
